About Glen Oaks Community College

Glen Oaks Community College is a public, student-centered community college dedicated to expanding access to education, preparing students for successful careers and transfer, strengthening the regional workforce, and supporting lifelong learning.

The college is located at 62249 Shimmel Road in Centreville, Michigan, and serves students from St. Joseph County, the surrounding south central Michigan region, and nearby communities in northern Indiana. Situated in Sherman Township between Three Rivers and Sturgis, the 320-acre campus overlooks Lake Templene and offers a close-knit learning environment connected to the schools, employers, organizations, and communities of the surrounding region.

Glen Oaks was established by St. Joseph County voters on June 14, 1965, when voters elected a Board of Trustees and approved a charter millage for the operation and support of the college. Glen Oaks Community College opened its doors in the fall of 1967 and has continued to evolve in response to the educational and workforce needs of the region.

The college offers associate degrees, certificates, short-term training, university transfer pathways, career and technical education, workforce development programs, continuing education, and lifelong learning opportunities. Flexible course options and partnerships with K–12 schools, universities, employers, workforce organizations, and community partners help students pursue education at different stages of their academic and professional lives.
